Yohji Yamamoto who had been collaborating with Adidas for the Y-3 line, has embarked on a new creation, transforming the adizero F50 football boots and embellishing them with a pair of imperial lion-dogs – mythical Japanese creatures associated with the Imperial Era – in fiery yellow tones with contrasting black and brown details.

Professional soccer players will wear these exclusive Adidas boots in matches around the world this weekend, sporting a design that pays homage to Yohji Yamamoto’s Japanese ancestors.

The limited edition adidas Yamamoto adizero F50 is hands down one of the craziest football boots we’ve ever seen. Visually, it’s a masterpiece but the design comes with a story and to get a better understanding of that story we spoke to adidas Global Senior Product Manager Antoine Hadjimanolis at adidas’ Global HQ in Herzogenaurac, Germany.

The Yohji Yamamoto adizero F50 football shoes are be available in Adidas stores for about $415. But you better hurry, because only 2,000 pairs will be made.
